Welcome to Kraken Charters, a veteran owned and operated Fishing Charter boat serving the Virginia Beach and Norfolk area of Virginia. The waters of the Chesapeake Bay and off the coast of Virginia Beach offer a unique opportunity for a wide variety of activities. We are a not just a fishing charter though! We also offer charters for Scuba Diving (new for 2025), Spearfishing trips, Sunset cruises, Wildlife Tours and Party Cruises. The best thing about our boat service is we don’t do cookie-cutter trips. Every trip is personalized to who & what is important to you, where the voyage & activities are decided by you & with the hundreds of things to do in the Hampton Roads area the sky is the limit. Captain Thomas Jerome, a US Coast Guard-licensed captain with over 25 years of experience, owns and operates Kraken Charters. He’s also a certified scuba diving instructor with NAUI and SDI/TDI, offering instruction from beginner levels through advanced technical diving. Over the decades, Captain Jerome has learned that each day on the water offers something new, and that consistent effort is key to landing top-quality fish. The crew supporting him brings energy and passion to every trip. Mate Ben, a Virginia Beach native, is highly skilled in Chesapeake Bay fishing.

Kraken Charters runs trips out of Norfolk on a 1999 32-foot Pursuit vessel called The Kraken. This boat is equipped with twin Cummins 4BTA 250 horsepower engines and cruises comfortably at around 23 knots. It is well-suited for both performance and relaxation, featuring a large cockpit space ideal for casting and reeling, a full bathroom, a small galley, and a v-berth to rest if needed. One of its standout features is an onboard grill, perfect for preparing meals right on the water. The boat is built to carry up to six people, making it great for small group trips.

Fishing options include inshore trips in the Chesapeake Bay, where calmer waters are home to redfish, speckled trout, and flounder. Offshore fishing heads further out to where bigger game like tuna, mahi-mahi, and marlin roam. For those who want to go even deeper, Kraken Charters offers deep sea fishing for species such as sea bass and tilefish. There’s also a walk-on option, where individuals or smaller groups can join others on a shared trip, offering a flexible and budget-friendly way to get on the water.
