Down Sea Charters is a Treasure Coast fishing charter based in Vero Beach, Florida, operated by local captains Sam Atwell and JP Granath. Both captains are natives to the area and fish these waters year-round, offering inshore, nearshore, and offshore trips that reflect the full range of fishing available along this stretch of Florida’s east coast.

Trips are run with a practical approach, choosing locations and techniques based on conditions and target species rather than following a preset routine.
Inshore trips focus heavily on the Indian River Lagoon and nearby Intracoastal waters, an ecosystem known for its diversity and consistent fishing. These trips work mangrove shorelines, channels, and protected water where anglers commonly target snook, tarpon, redfish, and spotted seatrout. Tarpon are a major draw in this region and are present seasonally in strong numbers, while snook fishing remains a standout year-round opportunity. The nearshore fishery adds another layer, with opportunities to target species such as permit and tarpon just off the beaches when bait and conditions line up.

Offshore trips push into the Atlantic, where the Treasure Coast benefits from its proximity to deep water and the well-known Sailfish Alley.
